Now, government department encroaches on Korattur lake
The Korattur lake in Chennai is facing encroachment issues not only from private individuals but also from a government department. The Civil Supplies CID has used a part of the lake to park seized vehicles, which activists say is another violation on top of existing illegal layouts and plot sales. Complaints have been sent to the Water Resources Department, who have spoken to the CID and were assured that the vehicles would be removed. Activists are concerned that such encroachments will further reduce the lake’s water spread area.
