The minor’s father was away when the incident took place. He returned home and learnt about the incident and filed a complaint on Friday. The Jaipur police have booked the doctor under IPC Section 354A (sexual harassment) and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (POCSO) act.
“The hospital has removed the doctor after the incident. We are investigating the case. We will examine the CCTV footage of the hospital,” Deshmukh said.
He said the doctor took the patient inside a curtained compartment where the alleged incident is reported to have taken place.
According to the police, the girl was travelling with her mother on a scooter when they met with an accident. They were taken to the hospital where the girl was sexually assaulted. She was petrified after the incident and narrated her ordeal to her father. “As soon as the father approached the police station, FIR was registered in the case,” said an official.
The Jaipur police have not arrested the doctor yet because investigation is underway. “We will record the girl’s statements. There are CCTVs inside the hospital which will be examined for the purpose,” said an official. The police said that the girl was traumatised by the entire incident.
