Mission Saksham Anganwadi: 215 Anganwadis Soon For Aspirational Dists | Jaipur News
Jaipur: In the first phase of the Mission Saksham Anganwadi, 215 anganwadi centres will be set up in aspirational districts of Rajasthan, said officials on Friday.
Mamta Bhupesh, state women and child development minister raised a question on this allotment and said, “Giving Rajasthan just 215 anganwadi centres of total 40,000 such centres planned for the whole country is very less.”
In July last year, Bhupesh had demanded the approval for 5000 new angawadi centres from the central government in view of the geographical location of the state where villages are located at 10-12km.
The minister had then said that villages in Rajasthan are scattered and far away and with limited number of anganwadi centres many children are left out from the benefits as children and mothers usually do not travel 10-12km. To this, the union government during a review meeting on Wednesday informed the Rajasthan government that more centres will be allotted in the next phase.
Ramavatar Meena, director Integrated Child Development Services in the state said that at present there are over 61,000 anganwadi centres in the state and the government has announced opening 10,000 more anganwadi centres this year.
“Along with this, under the Mission Saksham Anganwadi three aspirational districts of Baran, Karauli and Dholpur will get 215 more anganwadi centres. Of the 215, around 200 centres will be opened in Baran because it is the tribal belt region. With a large part of the state being in tribal belt and desert, there is always a need for more anganwadi centres so that the state and central government schemes can reach all the beneficiaries.”
