Mla Runs From Dawn To Dusk To Seek Quota For Locals In Govt Jobs | Jaipur News
Jaipur: Behror’s Independent MLA Baljeet Yadav has found an innovative way to protest. To press for his demand for reserving state government jobs for locals, Yadav embarked on a marathon at the Central Park in Jaipur from dawn to dusk on Monday.
His grievances are not just against the state government but also against the Centre. He said the farmers and youth are angry. “The Agniveer scheme has dashed hopes of state’s youths who dream of a career in the armed forces.
Every year there used to be about 1 lakh recruitments for the armed forces but now there is uncertainty about a career in the armed forces due to the new scheme,” he said.
According to Yadav the farmers are struggling for power and water. The Centre is not clearing the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project and the excess water from the perennial Chambal River is flowing down the drain even as eastern districts face acute water crisis.
He added that farmers are struggling due to shortage of electricity, fertilisers and water and the youth are staring at unemployment. Frequent question paper leaks have added to the youths’ agony. They prepare for exams but due to paper leaks recruitments are not happening, he complained. Yadav, who had resorted to a similar marathon earlier to press his demands, said that in about 22 states, only locals can apply for government jobs. In Rajasthan, it is free for all with no restrictions. He said while on the one hand, the youths of Rajasthan have no avenues for jobs outside the state, limited jobs here are open to outsiders, thus harming the interest of the local youth.
