Monsoon: Weak Monsoon Guides Mercury To Take An Upward Swing Across State | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: It is September and yet there is no respite from the scorching heat. The mercury continued to take an upward swing due to the absence of monsoon.
Most of the places recorded rise in their maximum and minimum temperatures on Tuesday. Some places witnessed maximum temperatures nearing 40 degrees Celsius. Churu and Sriganganagar remained hottest in the state where a maximum temperature of 39.5 degrees Celsius was recorded, the Met reports said.
Attributing the vanishing of monsoon rainfall to the active cyclonic circulation and northerly winds, Met office said that mercury will keep increasing. However, from September 6 there could be a possibility of light showers in the northern and eastern parts of the state. People in Jaipur woke up to a relatively warm morning when a minimum temperature of 28.3 degrees Celsius was recorded.
It was followed by a sultry afternoon when maximum temperature of 37 degrees Celsius with humidity of around 70% was recorded. Jaipur in this season so far has received deficit rainfall. Last time on September 5, 2020 Jaipur had recorded a maximum temperature of 37 degree Celsius.
However, in the evening dust storms gave respite to Jaipurites and nearby districts. High velocity winds with light showers and cloudy conditions were witnessed in Jaipur. “Scattered showers will occur at some places around Jaipur on Wednesday,” said an official
Churu and Sriganganagar were followed by Bilkaner where maximum temperature of 39.3 degrees Celsius was recorded, Fatehpur 39.1, Jaisalmer 39.0. Phalodi 38.4 and a maximum temperature of 37.5 degrees Celsius was recorded in Sikar. Met office stated that similar conditions were witnessed in 2020 when less rainfall was recorded in August.
In its forecast Met office said that mild showers would be witnessed in some parts of Jaipur, Sikar, Dausa and other nearby districts on Wednesday. The Met office said that from September 20 mercury will dip as northerly winds would be activated by then. Slight nip in the air can be felt from September 20 during mornings.
