Jaipur: A team of Punjab Police on Monday took custody of a history-sheeter of Sardarshahar in connection with the Sidhu Moose Wala murder case. He was lodged at the district jail in a firing and extortion case. Punjab Police was invited by their Churu counterparts who informed them that the arrested accused was found with the registration papers of the vehicle that was found on the spot where Moose Wala was murdered.
A team of Punjab Police led by Jogindra Pal Singh, the circle inspector of Mansa, came to Sardarshahar and later took the accused identified as Arshad Ali in their custody for interrogation. “We had arrested him in a firing case almost a month ago. During interrogation we found some registration papers of the vehicle that was found on the spot where Moose Wala was murdered,” said Churu SP Digant Anand said on Tuesday.
He added that based on this information, Rajasthan Police updated their Punjab counterparts and a team came to take the accused in custody. “He would be quizzed on the suspected vehicle and its registration papers,” said an officer of Punjab Police. Since Arshad was lodged at Churu central jail, Punjab police applied for his production warrant and later took him along.
A senior officer of Churu police said, “There are at least 12 cases registered against him at different police stations including Sardarshahar in Churu. It is also found that he indulged in crimes since he was a minor,” the officer added.
