JAIPUR: Two youths drowned in a pond at a farmhouse in the Muhana area of Jaipur on Wednesday. SHO (Muhana) JP Poonia said that the deceased were idenitfied as Ravi (19), a resident of Kachi Bassti in Transport Nagar, and Kaliya (19).
“The two had come to work at the wedding in the farmhouse. There is a pond which is about 15 feet. It is used mainly for irrigation purposes. The two drowned in the same pond,” Poonia said. A team from the civil defence was sent to rescue the two youths. Mahendra Sevda, a rescue team member, said that his team fished out the bodies of the two men and rushed them to the hospital.
The police suspect that the deceased had possibly entered the pond to swim but drowned. “The bodies would be handed over after the post-mortem. We have not received any complaint from the parents yet,” said an official. The police said they examined the farmhouse and spoke to its owner about what transpired. tnn
