Murdered Couple Had Stayed Back In Hope Of Finding Son | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: The hope to reunite with their son, who went missing in 1992, made Darshan Singh (75) and his wife Mahendra Kaur (70) stay back at the residential quarters of Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) in Khetri Nagar in Jhunjhunu.
“They did not return to their home state Jharkhand despite retirement,” revealed their elder son Surinder Singh, who was shell-shocked at the news of murder of his parents.
Police said that the case could be of murder for gain as the family has stated that their gold jewellery and cash were missing.
“After partition, my grandfather moved to Jharkhand. In 1972, my father Darshan Singh got a job in Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL), a PSU producing copper, and he moved to Khetri Nagar. He retired from the job in 2007 but they did not move back to Jharkhand. They desperately hoped to be reunited with my younger brother Surjit Singh, who went missing in 1992,” said Surinder Singh while talking to TOI on Tuesday.
Recalling the incident, he said, “My younger brother Surjit failed in Class IX exam and my parents scolded him. He left home in anguish and went to Mumbai at my maternal aunt’s home. He stayed there for two days and then went missing. My parents searched for him at various places all these years, but he was not found. We had an appeal published in newspapers and other platforms asking him to return, but did get any success”.
“After the retirement of my father, I started a transport business in Ajmer. Still, my father stayed back on the wish of my mother. My mother fervently hoped that Surjit would return to our Khetri Nagar-situated government quarters,” he said.
“Ask anyone if they were cooperative and nice people. It is hard to believe they were brutally killed like this. I will request the police to make arrests,” said Surinder, unable to hold back his tears.
