Jaipur: Chief minister Ashok Gehlot, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge inaugurated the Gandhi Vatika – a museum on Mahatma Gandhi – inside the Central Park on Saturday.
The museum had been built at a cost of Rs 87 crore by the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA).
“Under the guidance of chief minister Ashok Gehlot and the initiative of Rajasthan government, an innovative construction has been done in the memory of Mahatma Gandhi in Jaipur which has been named Gandhi Vatika. As part of the state government’s 2021-22 budget announcement, the Jaipur Development Authority has constructed this museum,” said state urban development and housing minister Shanti Dhariwal.
The museum had been constructed in a three floored structure where one floor is in the basement. All these three floors had different sections to highlight different aspects on the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. While the basement would showcase the dark age of colonization, initial days of freedom struggle, the Revolt of 1857 and Gandhiji’s life in South Africa, the ground floor would have sections like Gandhiji’s return to India, his concept of nation, movements initiated by him and his last days.
The first floor would showcase sections like Gandhiji’s visits to Rajasthan and the influence of the Father of the Nation across the globe.
