Climate change to impact brain function too: Study
Scientists have warned that climate change could affect brain function in the future, in addition to causing flooding and wildfires. Factors such as changing environmental conditions, air pollution, and anxiety related to climate change can impact brain development and plasticity. Understanding the effects on people’s brains is crucial to finding ways to mitigate these changes. Climate change’s impact on public health was discussed during the G20 sessions, with estimates suggesting that by 2050, it could lead to 2.5 lakh more deaths annually due to undernutrition, diarrhea, heat, and malaria.

EU says climate funding should not rely on 1992 calculations
The EU climate chief has stated that a global fund to address climate change should not be based on economic divisions from 30 years ago. He emphasized that all nations with the ability to pay should contribute to the fund. The establishment of a “loss and damage” fund for poorer nations is one of the key issues at the upcoming COP28 climate talks, with questions about China’s role in the fund. The EU is aiming to bring down its carbon emissions and become climate neutral by 2050. However, the proposed $100 billion annual fund falls short of the estimated $2 trillion needed by 2030.
