Jaipur: A day after the Jaipur Municipal Corporation Greater (JMC-G) flagged off 65 trash vehicles for the city’s Malviya Nagar zone, residents are unsure regarding the success of these vehicles.
Some of the residents said that the initiative can be successful only with proper coordination among the vehicles, corporation officials and residents welfare associations.
“The initiative is good, but it can be made successful only when there is proper coordination between the residents and waste collecting vehicles on the time. Due to lack of time coordination, the garbage again gets dumped in the colony. To improve such a situation, resident welfare associations need to work with the corporation, otherwise the initiative might not succeed,” said Jitendra Shrimali, councillor of ward 150.
Some said that vehicles are bigger in size compared to earlier and have started picking up waste from Tuesday, but RFID tags would be issued around two to three months later. “The new vehicles have already started picking up waste. But the RFID tag will be issued after 2-3 months. For this to be a success it needs both the waste collector and people to be aware and vigilant,” said Rajula Singh from ward 130.
Residents also feared that with multiple vehicles for one locality, there could be duplication with the tags being scanned.
