New Youth Policy To Focus On Skills, Sports, Art And Culture | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Minister of state for youth affairs and sports Ashok Chandna on Wednesday said a new ‘youth policy’ will be framed in the state after consultations with youths up to the block level with focus on skill, sports and art and culture.
Chandna, while addressing a programme at the conference hall of SMS Stadium, said creating employment opportunities for youth is the biggest need at the moment. “For this, special attention is being given to skill development among youths and connecting them with employment. Positive change can also be brought about through sports,” he said.
“With special focus on these three disciplines – skill, sports and art and culture – through the youth board, they will be consulted at the block level and their opinions will be taken,” he added. “Based on the feedback received from them, data will be collected and the reports will be submitted to the state government. On the basis of opinions given by youths, a new ‘youth policy’ will be given shape.”
Expressing concern over the increasing trend of drug addiction among youths, Chandna said a ‘nasha mukti’ campaign would be launched to save them from the menace of drugs. He said the possibility of providing employment to youths in industries on a priority basis would also be considered.
The Rajiv Gandhi Youth Excellence Centre, the foundation stone laying ceremony of which was held on Tuesday, will be built at a cost of Rs 4.50 crore. The basement will have a training auditorium and other facilities. The ground floor will have the reception room, waiting room, a conference hall, office and a kitchen with a dining hall. A dormitory with rooms will be constructed on the first floor. The youth of the state will have an accommodation facility here.
Besides this, cultural programmes, and workshops related to youth will be organised.
