Jaisalmer: The body of a newborn girl was found in a drain at Shastri Nagar in Barmer City on Tuesday afternoon. Police reached the spot after receiving information and sent the body for post-mortem. Head constable Suraj Singh of Kotwali police station said enquiries were being made about the newborn at nearby nursing homes and hospitals to identify the newborn. “A case will be registered after the post-mortem report comes,” he added. The incident assumes significance as sex ratio remains low in Barmer and Jaisalmer districts.
