None: Cm Blames Centre For Delay In Kota Airport Construction | Jaipur News

Kota: Chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday inspected the site of the proposed Kota Greenfield Airport in Shambupura village in Bundi district and held the central government responsible for delay in its construction. He also accused Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla of not helping with the airport project for the fear of the credit going to the Congress government in the state.
Claiming that his government was committed to building the Kota airport, Gehlot said that 34 hectares of land were transferred for free to the airport authority by the urban improvement trust Kota, and the state cabinet cleared the first instalment of Rs 21 crore and 13 lakh to be paid to the forest department. He said that despite these steps, the Centre had not allowed the work to begin.
He urged Birla, who is the MP from Kota-Bundi, to make some efforts for the Kota airport.
“Hurdles are being raised over forest land (by the Centre) and it may be that Om Birla ji and they (Centre) feel why should the credit for the airport go to the state government. So, they are not allowing the work to begin,” Gehlot said while speaking to the media.
“They should either throw their hands up and withdraw from the project. We will build it ourselves,” the CM said, adding that it was the duty of Birla to ensure that the work starts as soon as possible and if norms need to be amended, then get them amended.
“The inflow of tourists in Kota and Hadouti will be possible only when there is airport in Kota,” Gehlot said. UDH minister Shanti Dhariwal, Kota collector O P Bunkar, and officials of Kota UIT were present with the CM.
