Now, Cong Plans Yatra In Eastern Raj Over National Status For Ercp |

Jaipur: Congress will take out a five-day yatra this month in 13 districts of eastern Rajasthan to press for its demand for national status for Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP), said state Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra on Monday.
“The Rs 37,000 crore ERCP project will provide drinking water in 13 districts of eastern Rajasthan and irrigation of over 2 lakh hectares of land. The detailed project report (DPR) of this project was sent to Central Water Commission in 2017, but the Centre has not given the nod for this project so far. Nahar hamara haq hai, le ke rahenge (The canal is our right, we will have it at all costs),” said Dotasra after attending the first meeting of the party’s campaign committee.
The PCC chief said over 4,000 applications for party tickets for the 200 seats in the state have been received and that Congress would come up with a strategy for its assembly election campaign in a day or two. The party’s campaign committee meeting was presided over by its chairman Govind Ram Meghwal and attended, among others, by AICC in-charge SS Randhawa and CM Ashok Gehlot.
Dotasra also said the party plans meetings of the beneficiaries of the state government’s schemes at the assembly constituency level before and after the dates for the assembly polls are announced.
He said the people of the state are happy with the performance of the Congress government and have decided to “repeat the government”.
“Congress works for the people wholeheartedly while the BJP only talks. BJP wants to come to power by talking about religion and the Hindu-Muslim issue, but this is not going to happen,” said Dotasra.
He claimed that BJP’s ongoing ‘Parivartan Yatra’ has failed in the state and that the saffron party’s high command is annoyed over it.
“The state leaders of BJP were called by the party high command in Delhi and scolded due to the yatra getting a poor response,” said the state Congress president.
