Vote Share: Cong’s Vote Share Remains Stagnant While Bjp’s Rises | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Vote share of the Congress has remained stagnant compared to the previous assembly election. While BJP increased its vote share from 39.28% to 41.69% compared to 2018, that of Congress fell marginally to 39.53% as against 39.82% in 2018.
Rajasthan recorded a voter turnout of 75.45%, including 0.83% of postal ballots, in the assembly polls held on November 25, marginally higher than the 74.71% in the previous elections in 2018.
The Congress had at least 49 rebels in the fray, but only one managed to win. The presence of many rebels is also attributed to the party’s drubbing, as they cut into party votes. Vote share of Independents rose to about 12% from 9.59% in 2018. At least 8 Congress rebels contesting as Independents came in second, pushing the party nominees to third place.
Congress faltered in identifying the deserving candidates in many constituecies, said political observers. Congress has not crossed 40% vote share in recent times except in 1998 assembly elections when the party bagged 44.95 per cent of votes and secured 156 seats, while BJP was reduced to 33 seats and 33.23% of votes in those elections.
