Nwr, Raj To Ink Pact For Bani Park-hasanpura Underpass | Jaipur News
Jaipur: The North Western Railway (NWR) would soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state government to execute the ambitious project of an underpass connecting the area near Ram Mandir in Bani Park with the Jal Mahal Chouraha in Hasanpura.
This would be the fourth means to cross the railway line within a stretch of around 4km between the Bais Godam and Bani Park Ram Mandir.
“We already have the Civil Lines flyover and the Hasanpura flyover. The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) is constructing another Railway Overbridge at the Civil Lines Phatak. This underpass would be the fourth one to vehicles is the city to cross the railway lines. It would help to ease traffic congestion in the Bani Park area,” said a senior PWD official.
As per the initial plan, this underpass – measuring a little over 2 km – would start from area near the Bani Park Ram Mandir and would reach the Jal Mahal Chouraha through the second entry of Jaipur Junction on the Hasanpura side and through the Railway Loco Colony.
“This is the initial blueprint of the project. Once we sign the MoU, we would appoint an agency to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR). Hopefully, the DPR would also mention the route alignment we had selected,” the official added.
On June 29, officials of the NWR had hold a meeting with the state Public Works Department (PWD) officials. Even a few officials from JDA, including one of the chief engineers, were also present in the meeting.
“At present, for vehicles coming to and fro the Bani Park side and Hasanpura side had to take the Hasanpura flyover to cross the railway lines. But the position of the flyover and the one-ways on the road going towards railway station leads to a diversion for vehicles and subsequent congestions in the area. In fact, the road in front of the railway station from Bani Park is quite narrow., This would be solved if we construct this underpass,” another official added.
