Officials Seek Help Of Good Samaritans For Saving Mishap Victims | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Officials of the traffic and transport departments have appealed to people to help accident victims and assured that Good Samaritans would be protected under the Chief Minister Chiranjeevi Jeevan Raksha Yojana. “Even though the transport and traffic departments have been working to reduce accidents and identify road engineering issues, we need more people coming out to help accident victims on the roads so that more lives can be saved in the golden hour after the accident,” said state transport minister Brijendra Ola at the inaugural function of a Road Safety Week event.
As per the Chief Minister Chiranjeevi Jeevan Raksha Yojana started in September 2021, the government gives Good Samaritans who help accident victims in the golden hour a reward of Rs 5,000 and an appreciation certificate. The scheme has recorded 27 beneficiaries till now.
“People fear that police would take their statement, or the hospital will make them pay the medical bills. Anyone who brings in an accident victim cannot be harassed by police or hospital staff. It is not mandatory for the Good Samaritans to give their personal details,” said joint commissioner (road safety) Nidhi Singh.
A survey conducted in hospitals by the transport department last year found that even the hospital staff did not know about the Good Samaritans law or the Supreme Court’s guidelines about helping accident victims.
