Pakistan: Indo-pak Tie Fails To Live Up To Expectations | Jaipur News

Jaipur: It was a day to celebrate for Jaipurites as India defeated arch rival Pakistan in yet another World Cup encounter. But, for the revellers, the celebration got marred as the match ended ‘one-sided’.
“Although Pakistan started off with a flying start and we were expecting a close contest, the match did not last long. The spirit of the match dampened as Pakistan batsmen literally surrendered,” said Amit Sharma, who partied with his friends in the evening at a city club.
With election campaigns yet to take on full swing and being a weekend, city roads started looking deserted since Saturday afternoon. Most city residents preferred to stay home enjoy the high voltage match. “I was expecting some hassle bustle on city roads with elections round the corner, but this Saturday looked more deserted than any other Saturdays,” said Sudesh Saini, driver of an app cab service.
“Several restaurateurs had kept themselves prepared to woo their customers with live streaming of the match on big screen, but the idea did not work well. Before evening set in the fate of the match got decided to a great extent.
In all Jaipur welcomed and enjoyed India’s victory. But the mood for celebration was toned down owing to the one sided victory of Team India.

Why can’t India vs Pakistan be just another match?
The rivalry between India and Pakistan in sports, particularly cricket and hockey, has always been intense and filled with national pride. However, the significance of these matches goes beyond the game itself, as they become a proxy for settling political scores. The toxic politics and history of conflict between the two nations fuel this intense rivalry. While the sub-continental rivalry is celebrated and milked by television, it is important to remember that sports should not be seen as substitutes for war. The ultimate goal for India should be to win World Cups and achieve success in all formats of cricket.
