Rajasthan: Over 1.2 crore jabs given in August, highest in a month | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Covid vaccination got a major push in the state as the Centre supplied over 1.18 crore doses in August. In all, over 1.20 crore doses were administered in Rajasthan last month, which was more than double the jabs allocated to the state for the month.
Despite vaccination getting a momentum in August, the state government will take at least five to six more months for completely inoculating 5.14 crore eligible beneficiaries in the state with first and second doses.
As of now, over 4.40crore doses have been administered in the state since the launch of the drive in January. The state still needs more than 5.60 crore doses.
“For August, the Centre had allocated 53 lakh doses for the state, but health minister Raghu Sharma took up the issue with Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya demanding 2 crore doses. Following the demand, the state received over 1.18 crore doses in August, the highest supplied by the Centre in a month to Rajasthan,” said a senior health department official.
Till August 31, the state received 4,40,42,500 doses and administered 4,45,32,250, which is 4,89,750 more than what it received. Officials said more people were vaccinated that doses received because the state minimised the waste of extra doses.
