People Stuck In Traffic Jams For Hours Blame Civic Authorities | Jaipur News

Jaipur: “It took me 6 hours to reach my home in Bani Park from Shila Mata temple in Amber. Everything that can make a city unlivable was there to experience,” said an exhausted Ajay Kumar Sharma, who runs a film production unit, of his traffic nightmare that was caused by waterlogged roads in Jaipur on Monday.
Rashmi Dickinson, a former British bureaucrat, said, “I was returning from Sikandra. From Ramgarh-roundabout on Delhi Jaipur highway to home, a distance of 7-10 minutes, it took me 2.5 hours.” She said she saw only one policeman all through the traffic jam. “It was utter chaos. At least on three spots, young men banged on my window, in the guise of directing traffic, and asked for money,” she said.
The resentment and anger among commuters was palpable. Many said they expected the government and the bureaucrats to work more responsibly and plan civil works during the summer months.
Nitin Mathur, general manager of a travel company, said, “I have not seen Jaipur like this in the past 35 years. There is garbage all around and roads are in terrible condition. Let’s raise our voices on this.”
