Artists showcased the excellence of contemporary art through 150 paintings | Jaipur News

Sufi music, classical dance, and the beautiful craftsmanship of South India inspired contemporary art among Jaipur art lovers. The occasion was the grand opening of a five-day art exhibition organized by Jawahar Kala Kendra in association with ‘Dakshin Varnam’. The five-day exhibition ‘Contemporary Art from South India’ showcased artworks by 17 renowned artists from South India. These artists presented the grandeur of South Indian culture through their art forms.

It began with a live performance of Sufi melodies by singer Zuber and guitarist Deepak Andrews, along with the Sufi tunes of singer Priya Andrews from Jaipur. Following this, Delhi’s classical dancer Sanya Tyagi held the audience spellbound with her Odissi dance presentation. Prominent artists SK Rajasekaran, Kayalvizhi Sethukarasu, V. Dakishnamoorthy, D. Gayathry, and James Manickam also gave live art demonstrations.

During the exhibition, M. Senathipathi showcased seven artworks created on handmade paper and acrylic colours. These artworks depict the emotions of Radha-Krishna, the forms of Durga, and the relationship between mother and child. Similarly, Radja Perumal used mixed media to present natural aspects and forms on canvas in his eight artworks. Indian Awardee A. Selvaraj portrayed the beauty of women on canvas in his eight paintings at varying scales. Alongside, young artist Nandan, through his 20 artworks, employed ink art on ivory paper to illustrate the influence of everyday life. Art curator Sangeeta Harinarayan informed that 17 artists are showcasing over 150 paintings in the show. Among them are renowned Indian artists like M. Senathipathi, A. Selvaraj, Gopal Jayaraman, SK Rajasekaran, Kayalvizhi Sethukarasu, Nandan, V. Dakishnamoorthy, D. Gayathry, James Manickam, Hemalatha, Karthi Mohan, Isha Phillips, Radja Perumal, Sathya Gandhi, Bharathi Senthilvelan, Sampath, and Michael.
