Physical Activity: Jaipur Clinch Thrilling 1-run Win, Enter Final | Jaipur News

Jaipur: In an edge-of-the-seat-thriller, Ashok Sharma kept his nerves in check while bowling the last over to help Jaipur win by one run against Jodhpur in Qualifier 1. With this nail-biting victory, Jaipur entered the final of the inaugural edition of the Rajasthan Premier League (RPL) at the SMS Stadium on Thursday.
With 19 runs needed in the 20th over, Jodhpur captain Rahul Chahar (34 off 11 balls) struck 6, 2, 6, before getting run out with two more deliveries to go. Equation came down to 3 runs from 1 ball, but seamer Ashok succeeded in taking Jaipur home.
Jodhpur will get one more chance to redeem themselves in Qualifier 2 which they will play against Udaipur on Friday.
It was Manav Suthar who spun his magic to help Jaipur claw their way back into the match. The left-arm spinner stood out with the figures of 4-0-19-3. It was in the eighth over bowled by Manav when the momentum shifted in Jaipur’s favour. On song batter Abhijeet Tomar (39 off 23 balls) was given out LBW by the on-field umpire, but replays showed the ball was pitching outside leg.
Earlier, in great touch, captain Shubham Garhwal sizzled yet again to help Jaipur compile 149/7. He came out to bat in the seventh over when the score was 36/2 and single-handedly steered Jaipur’s innings with a 35-ball 64. The Jaipur skipper had put up an exhibition of powerful and well-timed shots as he hit five 6s and three fours. He tore into seamers Abhimanyu Lamba (4-0-37-1) and debutant Ravindra Khichar (3-0-36-0).
After Jaipur’s Shubham holed out off Aniruddh Chauhan in the 17.4 overs, they could only add 15 runs in the remaining 14 balls. Jodhpur captain Rahul Chahar, who registered figures of 4-0-25-3, was the pick of the bowlers.
Earlier, put into bat first, openers Divya Gajraj and Sumit Godara gave Jaipur a fine start and most of the wayward bowling of Sangram Singh and Abhimanyu. But in no time Shubham Sharma stopped Jaipur in their tracks. The left-arm spinner was introduced in the fifth over and he struck on the very first ball as a turning delivery scattered Sumit’s stump. It was a wicket maiden. He struck again in his second over and Tanmay Tiwari had to leave without opening his account. Shubham finished his spell with figures of 3-1-10-2, and it ensured Jaipur could only put 36/1 in the Powerplay.
Abhimnayu was brought into the attack in the 10th over of the innings and he dismissed the big fish, Divya. The Jaipur batter attempted a pull on a slower ball, but got it horribly wrong and that resulted in his dismissal.
