Physical Activity: On A Roll U-23 Raj Team Reaping Benefits Of ‘unchanged’ Squad | Jaipur News

Jaipur: An ordinary outing in the previous year and lack of practice before starting the new season would give anyone little hope.
But surprisingly, the Under-23 Rajasthan team has found its way through in the ongoing 2023-24 season and are off to a flyer. They are unbeaten in the league stage with 24 points in six games and are at the top of the pile in Group C in the ongoing Men’s Under-23 State A Trophy.
Captain Anshul Garhwal puts it succinctly as he shares what has so far worked for the team.“The message from the support staff and the management is very clear that the team is yours and we won’t interfere. Earlier things were different as there was interference and the team used to change quite often. I would credit Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) for how things went this time. Even after six games, the squad hasn’t changed. It is the first time in my playing career so far that I have been part of the squad that hasn’t changed even after so many games. This has given the players a lot of security,” the captain said.
On Tuesday, playing the last league match, the U-23 state team registered their sixth consecutive win which came against Railways. In a nail-biting finish which went down to the last ball of the match, Rajasthan sneaked a four-run victory. The highlight of all their wins in the ongoing one-day tournament has been the team’s all-round performance.
“It is a closely-knit unit and all of us know each other very well because we have been together since the Under-19 days. Bonding is very important if you have to win games consistently. We all back each other,” the captain added.
Rajasthan will play the quarterfinals which are scheduled in Delhi on November 19. The team will have a Diwali break which will be followed by a three-four days camp at the RCA Academy. “Before going for the quarterfinals, we will participate in the camp. The academy is functional now and going forward, it is going to benefit all the state teams,” said U-23 coach Kaushal Deora.
The coach acknowledged the contribution made by the entire team that enabled Rajasthan to play aggressively and in commanding fashion in the U-23 one-dayers, but he could not resist giving few names who should, according to him, be a part of the senior team.
“Selectors can consider and reward a few players like Karan Lamba, Divya Gajraj, Sumit Godara, Anshul, Manav Suthar and Salaudeen for the consistency in their performance and the talent they possess,” Deora added.
