Poison: Eloped Couple Consumes Poison, Woman Succumbs | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Almost a month after a 20-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man went missing from Jhunjhunu’s Singhana police station area, the duo attempted suicide by consuming poisonous substance.

Police said that the woman died, and the man is battling for life.
They were in a relationship and had gone missing on June 26. Their parents had lodged complaints at Kotwali police station in Jhunjhunu.

Police said the couple were of same caste and Gotra. “Both were missing since June 26 when their parents had lodged a missing complaint at Singhana police station in Jhunjhunu,” said an officer of Kotwali police station.
Police said that the couple belonged to a village under Singhana police station area and were reportedly relatives.
“A missing report was lodged at the Singhana police station on June 26 by their family members,” said the officer.
Police said that they had launched a search for the duo. “The couple hired a car three days ago from Jhunjhunu. But when they did not pay the fare as decided, the car owner took them to Kotwali polce station on Thursday evening. Suddenly, both started vomiting and revealed that they had consumed a poisonous substance. They were first taken to government hospital in Jhunjhunu from where they were rushed to SMS Hospital in Jaipur,” the officer said.
The car owner told police that the man had taken the car on rent on Tuesday and claimed that he was going to Hanumangarh with the woman to get some medicines. He assured to return by Tuesday evening itself.
“They had paid one-day fare in advance to the car owner. However, they did not return and the owner traced the vahicle location through GPS and found them. The owner enquired about his due amount, to which they said that they had no money. The owner then took them to police station. While we were checking their credentials, both started vomiting,” said an officer.
The woman died on the way to hospital in Jaipur and the man is battling for life.
