Polio Drops: Doorstep Polio Vaccination for Left-out Kids in Jaipur | Jaipur News
Jaipur: Polio drops were administered in 24 districts by setting up camps on Sunday. In the next three days, the health department teams will administer polio drops to children under five years by visiting door-to-door.
“The children, who are left out of the polio vaccination on Sunday, they can get it during door-to-door visits of health workers on Monday and Tuesday and on Wednesday too, some places will witness health workers conducting door-to-door polio vaccination drive,” said Dr Raghuraj Singh, project director (vaccination), health department.
The health department has not faced any resistance against polio vaccination in any part of the state on Sunday. Despite India has already been declared polio free, the vaccination is continuing. Globally, polio is still endemic in two countries, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Though India has been certified “polio-free”, the risk of wild poliovirus importation or the emergence of vaccine-derived polioviruses persists until global eradication, which highlights the need for maintaining high population immunity and sensitive surveillance in the country. On it, the health department officials explained the necessity of polio vaccination in the country.
