Congress: Congress Double-faced, Says Mayawati On Caste Survey | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Terming both BJP and Congress as against Dalits and Most Backward Class (MBC) parties, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati, while addressing public meetings in Dholpur and Nadbai (Bharatpur) on Friday, took a dig at Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and chief minister Ashok Gehlot, on promising caste census/survey in states where the party comes to power.
“Some leaders of the Congress party are saying they want to conduct a caste census so that people belonging to the most backward classes get fair benefits (of various schemes). They are double-faced. They are saying this just to win the votes of MBCs, Dalits, and other backward classes. You must remember that Congress did not implement the Mandal Commission report. It did not give the benefits of quota to people belonging to MBCs. Reservation to OBCs was extended during VP Singh’s government, and not during Congress government,” said Mayawati.
“Also, it (Congress) did not confer Bharat Ratna on Baba Saheb Ambedkar. It was done during Singh’s government.”
Referring to ‘Lal Diary’, Mayawati said, “Corruption has increased rapidly in the country. Rajasthan is not an exception. There has been talk about different types of diaries here. It is a matter of investigation who all are involved in it.”
Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister said Congress, BJP and their allies have come to power in several states with the help of capitalists and the rich. “Later, their governments make policies to benefit these capitalists,” she said.
“The government at the Centre and many state governments ruled by parties opposed to us are trying to make reservation for Dalits and other backward classes ineffective and discontinue it completely.”
