Private Hospital: Residents Oppose Jda Move To Give Park Land For Pvt Hosp | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Residents of around nine colonies in Jaipur have started protesting against the Jaipur Development Authority’s (JDA) decision to hand over a park to a company to construct a private hospital opposite to World Trade Park on JLN Marg.
A group of residents led by Malviya Nagar MLA Kalicharan Saraf had met JDA chairman Joga Ram on Monday evening to lodge a formal complaint against the civic body’s decision.
“The park is there for almost eight years and an integral part of the residents of the nearby nine colonies. Now, JDA wants to hand it over to a private company to construct a private hospital. There are several hospitals within a radius of one to two kilometre of this park. What’s the use of another hospital in this locality,” Saraf told TOI.
It was in 2008 when Ashok Gehlot was the chief minister, the government had struck an agreement with a private company to allow construction and operation of a private hospital on this prime land. In 2013, after Vasundhara Raje became the chief minister, the agreement was cancelled on the ground that hospital building has not been constructed within a stipulated period of four years, as per the agreement.
“Recently the government and the company concerned managed to get an order in their favour from a Lok Adalat. Although the Jaipur Bench of the High Court had earlier issued an order that status quo should be maintained on this land. It means, as per High Court order, the park would remain on this plot of land,” said Uma Sharma, president of Adi Nath Colony Residents’ Welfare Association.
JDA officials stated that they don’t have any role to play in the new agreement as they are only following a court order, nothing else. “As per the order of the Lok Adalat, we have to again sign an agreement with the earlier party. We had just followed the order,” said JDA official.
Locals claim that they won’t give up. Rather all residents of the nine colonies would join hands and remain together.
“We won’t tolerate such one sided activities of the government. Soon we are going to lodge a protest of our demands are no met,” said Ram Krishan Khandelwal a local resident.
