Jaisalmer: Hindus displaced from Pakistan on Saturday held a protest at the collectorate in Jaisalmer and later submitted a memorandum to the district collector in which they alleged inaction on their applications for Indian citizenship.
In the memorandum it was stated that 27 applications had been deposited in the collectorate office and even no-objection certificates (NOCs) from the authorities had been submitted, but no action had been taken yet by the administration.
Seemanth Lok Sangathan district president Dileep Singh Sodha said that despite application of citizenship being complete of 27 displaced Hindus, they were being denied their due.
He said that the association will call upon Pak displaced Hindus residing at different places to submit a memorandum in this regard to the governor and the chief minister as well.

Gandhiji, Netaji and others would been reduced to caste leaders had they been born in TN, governor says
The governor of Tamil Nadu, R N Ravi, has criticized the state for being fragmented along caste lines and accused the government of trying to erase the memory of freedom fighters from the people’s minds. He questioned whether leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose would have been reduced to caste leaders if they had been born in Tamil Nadu. Ravi also expressed concern about the caste-based division in society, citing students wearing caste bands to school. He called for a concerted effort to preserve the history of Tamil Nadu.
