Jaipur: Once again roadways employees will stage a protest on November 3 demanding payment of dues like salaries, pension, and retirement benefits. Employees said that salaries have not been paid for September and October. They have given the ultimatum of clearing the dues by November 7 before Diwali. Since past few months, roadways union has planned multiple demonstrations at state and district levels, with protests every week in September.
ML Yadav, president of Rajasthan Roadways Employees Union, said, “Employees are not getting salaries, pension benefits, health benefits, condition of buses are so poor in the state and still we are working.We have raised the issue several times but there is no response from the government authorities. Every time we protest, some dues are cleared and then the situation goes back to the same.”
The union has submitted a memorandum to the state government through the department over their different demands and requested authorities to solve the issues before Diwali or start with part payments at least.
“We have requested the department to pay two months’ salary, pension, retirement benefits, bonus and ex gratia by November 7. Even after that, if employees do not get their dues, then a decision will be taken to boycott work,” added Yadav.

The Sangharsh Kamgar Karmachari Union, representing wet lease drivers and conductors of BEST, will hold a meeting to decide on a date for their agitation. The union is demanding a salary hike, Diwali bonus, and other benefits. In the past, a similar agitation led to a seven-day strike in Mumbai, causing disruption to bus services. The BEST has only agreed to provide free bus passes, rejecting the other demands.
