Punjab: Sc Panel Asks Govt To Act Against Bajri Mafia In The State | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The Central Empowered Committee (CEC) of the Supreme Court has taken cognisance of illegal sand mining in the state and directed the state government to take action against the offenders.

The committee’s secretary, Amar Nath Shetty, has written to the chief secretary regarding allegations raised in a complaint and instructed to take action. The
State president of All Rajasthan Sand Truck Operators Society Navin Sharma had written a letter to the chief secretary on July 28 regarding issues related to legal sand mining and transportation.

In response, Shetty has directed action based on the allegations in the complaint. In his letter, Sharma said, “Illegal sand mining and transportation continue despite the restrictions. Trucks carrying legal sand are being fined lakhs of rupees for being just one or two tonne overweight. However, trucks involved in illegal sand transportation continue to enter cities daily,” reads letter.
The association alleged, “The vehicles that transport legal bajri having ‘Ravana’ are the ones being troubled and fined daily by the administration. On the contrary, the illegal bajri transport mafias are having a field day. Neither the police, mining department, nor the RTO is taking any action against the trucks, dumpers loaded with illegal bajri running on the roads. As a result, more than 300 vehicles are supplying illegal bajri in the city daily.”
A week ago, association called a presser and alleged that for some time now, RLP MP Hanuman Beniwal has been displaying his strength by bringing together illegal bajri mafia and calling legal bajri leases as illegal mining and staging district-wise protests. The truck association alleged this situation has been instigating clashe.
