Govt To Hold Rural Olympics To Scale Up Covid Vaccination | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Taking it as an opportunity to scale up Covid-19 vaccination, the health department will organise its camps at Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Olympics 2022 beginning August 29. The rural sports will be organised across the state at panchayat level first and then it will be held at block and district levels.
At the vaccination camps, the health department is targeting for vaccinating those who want to get their due doses – first, second and precautionary doses. “We are making availability of Covid-19 doses more easily assessable for the people. Since a lot of people will gather at rural sports event beginning from August 29, our teams will be deployed at each camp in rural areas at panchayat level for vaccinating those who have not received their doses,” said Dr Raghuraj Singh, project director (vaccination), health department.
The health department has issued necessary directions for it to all its officials across the state.
Out of 4.97 crore beneficiaries eligible in 18 + category for precautionary doses, the health department has achieved the target of 9.6% by vaccinating 49.6 lakh beneficiaries till Saturday morning. Among those 5.5% beneficiaries in 18 to 44 age category, 9.3% of 45-59 age category beneficiaries and 29.3% of beneficiaries who are 60+ have received their precautionary doses.
Besides, one person died of Covid-19 in 24 hours in the state bringing its toll to 9,624 since the first death was reported in 2020. The state reported 393 new Covid-19 cases bringing its overall tally to 13,07,732.
More persons recovered from Covid-19 in 24 hours than new infections. The health department declared 705 persons recovered from Covid-19, which has reduced active cases count in the state. In 24 hours, the state’s active cases have reduced from 3,659 to 3,346. With 1,371 active cases, Jaipur had highest number of active cases in the state, followed by Bharatpur (374), Alwar (223), Jodhpur (215), while no other district in the state have more than 200 active cases.
