Rahul’s Ls Membership Termination Is Dictatorship: Cm | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday equated the termination of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Lok Sabha membership with dictatorship. In a tweet, Gehlot said, “BJP should not forget that it adopted the same method against Mrs Indira Gandhi and had to face consequences. Rahul Gandhi is the country’s voice which will get stronger now against this dictatorship.”
The CM added, “It is beyond comprehension why BJP is standing in support of dishonest people like Nirav Modi and Lalit Modi. BJP should tell if Nirav Modi and Lalit Modi who fled abroad after looting the poor are not thieves.”
He said it is the duty of all to respect the judiciary but the manner in which the BJP was publicising the issue as an insult to OBC was “unfortunate”.
He asked are Nirav Modi and Lalit Modi are OBCs. In Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul ji raised the issue of inflation, unemployment, corruption, and violence. Instead of paying attention to them, the BJP government is taking repressive steps against Rahul ji, he said. Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi was disqualified from Lok Sabha on Friday, a day after he was convicted by a Surat court in a 2019 criminal defamation case.
Gehlot, while talking to the media at the Jaipur airport on way to Delhi in the evening said, “Mr clean (PM Modi) was cornered from all directions by the Opposition on the Adani issue and didn’t not allow the Parliament to function. And now with the termination of membership of Rahul Gandhi from Lok Sabha, the BJP has lost all moral authority.” He said that the Centre could have waited for the time given by the court for Rahul Gandhi to explore legal options before disqualification.
Earlier, while talking to reporters at Banasthali Vidyapith in Tonk, Gehlot called the verdict against Rahul Gandhi “unfortunate”. “This whole game which is being played intentionally is a threat to democracy,” he said, adding that the time to protect the Constitution has come.
