Jaisalmer: Barmer district received copious showers on Saturday morning that continued for four hours. The roads were flooded and water entered many houses in several areas. A roadways bus fell into a pit outside Krishi Mandi in Barmer, luckily no passenger was injured. The flooded roads from railway station till the district collectorate made it difficult for people to move around.
According to police, Arif Khan, Masjid Khan and Ajith, all residents of Ami Ka Paar went to bathe in the pond. They were clicking selfies when one of the brothers slipped into the pond. The other two jumped in to save him but all three drowned. The BSF and local people took out the bodies. The bodies have been kept at the mortuary of the Gadra CHC and further action will be taken after the post-mortem.
District collector Lok Bandhu has appealed to the people to remain alert as roads have been damaged at many places and there is waterlogging. He has asked the people not to move out of houses unnecessarily.
