Jaipur: Heavy rainfall continued for the third consecutive day on Sunday at many places in Rajasthan.
A 10-year-old boy drowned in a rain-fed pond at his village in Alwar. Many places in Jhunjhunu and Sikar witnessed flood-like situation. Sangaria (Hanumangarh) received a rainfall of 150mm which was highest in the state. Udaipurwati (Jhunjhunu) received a rainfall of 120mm.
Attributing the revival of rainfall since Friday, Met office said that from Tuesday, the rainfall activities would decrease in the state.
Jaipur witnessed moderate rainfall which made the weather pleasant.
A minimum temperature of 25.6 degree Celsius was recorded in the morning and maximum temperature of 32.4 degree Celsius in the afternoon. A rainfall of 18mm was recorded till 5.30pm. Met office predicted that rainfall would decrease in Jaipur from Monday.
Heavy rainfall affected normal life in Jhunjhunu and Sikar.
Malsisar (Jhunjhunu) recorded a rainfall of 110mm, Marwar (Pali) and Nawalgarh (Jhunjhunu) 80mm each, Sikar 70mm, Choth Ka Barwada (Sawai Madhopur) 60mm.
Water started receding from Karauli, Rajsamand, Ajmer, Bhilwara and Chittorgarh where heavy rainfall was witnessed on Saturday.
Rainfall in the last three days came as a boon for dams.“Majority of the dams are witnessing elevation in their water level. The catchment areas of these dams are getting good amount of water,” said an officer of water resources department.
Jaipur Met office forecast moderate rainfall in Bharatpur, Udaipur, Kota and Jaipur divisions and showers in Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions in the next 24 hours.
