Raj Gets 31% More Rains, Most Dams Fully Loaded | Jaipur News
Jaipur: Good rainfall during this monsoon has brought most dams and reservoirs in the state close to their full capacity marks and filled others up to 50% or more.
With Rajasthan having received 30.7% higher rainfall this season compared to that in 2021, no district is in the category of scanty or deficit rainfall.
“The state has received an average rainfall of 511.43 mm till Thursday against the average rainfall of 391.38 mm received till August 18, 2021. This is 30.7% higher rainfall in the state compared to last year’s,” said an officer with the water resources department.
Jhalawar district has received the highest average rainfall this monsoon season as it received 901.28 mm. Sriganganagar, with 318.17 mm, has received an average lower rainfall in the state. Jaipur has so far received an average rainfall of 502.26 mm against 383.50 mm received till July 18, 2021.
Most dams in the state are brimming with water. The Kota Barrage dam has so far got 259.84 RL/metre water against its full capacity of 260.30 RL/metre.
“More than 97% of the dam is now filled. Its gates had to be opened many a times in this season to release excess water,” said an officer of the water resources department.
Water at the Bisalpur dam, which caters to the drinking water needs of Tonk, Ajmer and Jaipur districts, has reached 312.56 RL/metre against its full capacity of 315.50 RL/metre. “If its catchment area in Chittorgarh, Bhilwara, Rajsamand and Pali gets more rainfall, we are likely to reach a capacity of almost 80% in this season,” said an engineer at the dam.
In its forecast, Jaipur Met office said mild showers will continue at some parts in the state in the next 24 hours.
