Excise Inspector: Excise Inspector, 2 Aides Held For Taking Bribe | Jaipur News

Jaipur: A team of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday evening arrested a woman excise inspector posted at Jaipur for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 3 lakh from two middlemen in lieu of facilitating a liquor contractor seamless operations.

The bribe was taken as the first installment of the total demanded bribe of Rs 10 lakh.
Hemant Priyadarshi, officiating director general ACB, said that a complainant who has a license to run a liquor shop approached the ACB headquarters with a complaint. “He alleged that the accused officer, identified as Ankita Mathur, demanded a bribe of Rs 10 lakh to allow him to run his liquor shops smoothly. The amount she demanded was for a year. The complainant was also told if he was unable to pay Rs 10 lakh one time he could pay Rs 3 lakh as advance.”

The woman officer promised seamless and raid-free operations to the complainant if he pays the bribe money, he added.
After receiving the complaint, a team under the supervision of Randhir Singh, DIG ACB assigned the task of verifying the complaint to Rajendra Nain, Additional SP, ACB. “After verifying the complaint, the accused woman asked the complainant to wait for her instructions. In the afternoon two other liquor contractors identified as Monu Ali and Aslam had come to meet her. She asked them to do a favour and asked them to pick up a packet of money from the complainant in the Transport Nagar area,” Nain told TOI.
Later, both Monu Ali and Aslam took the money packet containing Rs 3 lakh and called up the woman officer for further instructions. “She asked them to come to a park situated at Shyam Nagar locality. As both handed over the packet containing Rs 3 lakh to the woman, all the three including the woman officer and two including Monu Ali and Aslam were arrested by our team,” Nain added.
