Raj To Hire 10k Teachers For Eng Medium Schools Soon | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: The state government will soon hire 10,000 teachers on contract for the Mahatma Gandhi English-medium schools.
The director of the school education department was on Monday asked to issue a notification regarding the hirings under the guidelines of the Rajasthan Contract Hiring to Civil Posts Rules, 2022. The government’s order said that a notification must be issued by the department at the earliest in compliance with all rules of reservation and qualifications. A total of 10,000 teachers of Level 1 and Level 2 for English and Mathematics subjects are going to be hired.
The hiring is being done as per last year’s budget announcement by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. The education department is already finding it difficult to hire teachers for English-medium schools as eligible teachers are not readily available. As per the basic criteria set by the department, these teachers must be from English-medium schools and fluent in English. Most applicants have failed in these two criteria in the past.
Rajasthan Primary and Secondary Education Teachers’ Association senior vice-president Vipin Prakash Sharma said, “This government has always been opposing contractual hirings, but it is still going ahead with the same process. These teachers were supposed to be hired on a permanent basis. The main problem in hiring teachers for English-medium schools is that most applicant teachers have not studied through the English medium themselves. How will the department develop a cadre of teachers while opening more such schools?”
Most eligible applicants from Rajasthan who have studied in the English medium choose to go for other professions, he said. “Since the posts are lying vacant, the government must reconsider its rules,” added Sharma.
