West Raj People Heave Sigh Of Relief As Water Recedes From Inundated Areas | Jaipur News

Moderate to heavy rainfall was recorded at Phalodi in Jodhpur and Ramdevra in Jaisalmer. Showers were recorded at many places in Jaipur, Bikaner, Kota and Jodhpur divisions.
Torrential rainfall was witnessed on Wednesday at Anupgarh (Sriganganagar), Sriganganagar, Nokha (Bikaner), Khajuwala (Bikaner) and Sridungargarh (Bikaner) which affected normal life. At Sridungargarh, rainfall of 210mm was recorded.
“Things are normal and under control as water has receded from most of the places. I have issued directions to improve the drainage system of Bikaner city. With lesser rainfall on Thursday, the water receded from majority of the places,” said Bhagwati Prasad Kalal, district collector of Bikaner.
Ansh Deep, district collector of Sriganganagar, said, “Villagers maintain a mud embankment called ‘bandha’ around their farms to keep out rain water. At a few places these bandhas were broken and water entered farms and some houses.”
Amar Singh, president of Kisan Sangarh Samiti, an association of farmers, complained, “Roads are broken and the drainage system in Sriganganagar has failed. Even light rainfall leaves Sriganganagar flooded.”
Sridungargarh received rainfall of 210mm till 8.30am on Thursday. “Thankfully, after 8.30am no rainfall took place,” said an officer there.
The Met office said that Bikaner, Jaipur, Kota, Bharatpur and Jodhpur divisions are likely to get moderate rainfall in the next 24 hours.
