JAIPUR: Chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday said that Rajasthan is the first state to declare 29 gram panchayats TB free. The winning of the medal at the national level by eight districts doing excellent work in tuberculosis (TB) eradication indicates the resolve of the state in this direction, he said.
Gehlot was speaking after presenting TB-free certificates to 29 gram panchayats at his residence. He laid the foundation stone for the construction of 117 new medical buildings, amounting to Rs 315 crore and inaugurated 109 medical buildings that have been established at a cost of Rs 123 crore. He introduced 20 new 104 Janani Express ambulances and 50 new 108 ambulances to enhance emergency medical services.
He said 26% of the world’s TB patients are in India and six percent of them are in Rajasthan. He said, the aim is to make Rajasthan TB-free by 2025. Just as everyone in the state together faced the Covid-19 pandemic, similarly the state will be made TB free.
