Rajasthan: Announcement without receiving Lubhaya panel report, says BJP on creation of new districts | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: State BJP termed the creation of 19 districts and the formation of three divisions an attempt to harvest votes in the upcoming elections at the cost of the future of the state on Friday.
Deputy leader of opposition (LOP) Rajendra Rathore said, “CM Ashok Gehlot had constituted a high-powered committee, headed by retired IAS officer Ram Lubhaya, on March 21, 2022, to give suggestions to the government regarding the formation of new districts.
Recently he extended the tenure of the committee and stated that there was a delay in receiving the report of the committee. It is hard to understand how 19 districts were announced without receiving the report.”
Rathore also said the government allocation of Rs 2,000 crore for the creation of 19 districts was far from sufficient.
“How can the state capital Jaipur be divided into Jaipur North and Jaipur South, Kotputli and Dudu. Neither the population nor the area were considered while declaring new districts,” he asked.
The BJP leader further said that the manner in which the new districts have been created is bound to make the life of common man difficult,” Rathore said in a statement.
Calling the announcement incomplete, he said the government has not provided any information on which districts would be included in the newly announced three divisions of Banswara, Pali and Sikar. “It is purely intended to serve only political objectives without any administrative strength and infrastructure. I am sure that not even the administrative officers posted in these newly created districts are aware of which gram panchayats, blocks, tehsils, subdivisions, assembly segments have been included in the new ones,” he said.
