Rajasthan: Couple among four killed by lightning in Kota, Bundi districts | Jaipur News

KOTA: Three people, including a couple, were killed in Bundi district after lightning struck them late on Tuesday night while a 45-year-old man was killed by lightning in Kota district on Wednesday afternoon.
In the first incident, a couple identified as Banwari Mehar, 65, and his wife Nandudevi, 60, residents of Balkasa village under Kapren police station in Bundi district, was killed on the spot after lightning hit them while they were working in their agriculture field.
When the couple did not reach home till late in the night, their son reached the agriculture field and found the couple lying dead. The couple’s bodies were handed over to the family after an autopsy on Wednesday morning, and a case of unnatural death under Section 174 of CrPC was lodged. Further investigations are on, said Kapren police station SHO Suresh Kumar.
A 65-year-old woman, identified as Gyarsibai Dhakad, resident of Kethuda village under Talera police station of Bundi district, sustained critical injuries after lightning struck her while she was working in agriculture field in the village on Tuesday evening. She was immediately rushed to MBS Hospital in Kota, where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment later at night.
A 45-year-old man, identified as Hemraj Bairwa, a resident of Dungerli village under Itawa police station of Kota district, was killed on the spot after lightning hit him while he was working in an agriculture field on Wednesday afternoon, said Itawa police station SHO Ramvilas Meena.
Newly posted Bundi collector Ravindra Goswami on Wednesday visited the family of the couple killed due to lightning at Balkasa village on Tuesday evening.
Goswami assured the couple’s son of government help and directed the SDM to approve monetary aid as per rules to him. He also appealed to villagers to avoid taking shelter under trees during rain.
Meanwhile, at least 32 sheep and 8 goats were killed after lightning struck upon them while they were grazing in a field near Kheruna dam under Dablana police station in Bundi district around 5pm on Wednesday. The two shepherds, however, escaped unhurt.
