Rajasthan elections: Congress’s candidate from Karanpur seat Gurmeet Singh Koonar dies during treatment at AIIMS-Delhi | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: The Congress candidate for the Karanpur assembly constituency in Rajasthan, Gurmeet Singh Koonar, passed away during treatment at AIIMS-Delhi.
He was 75.
Koonar, the incumbent MLA from Karanpur, had been admitted to the Geriatric Medicine Ward at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on November 12.
According to the hospital, Koonar succumbed to sepsis with septic shock and renal disease, compounded by hypertension.His demise comes just ahead of the scheduled polls for the 200-member Rajasthan assembly, set to take place on November 25.

“I am deeply saddened by the news of the demise of Karanpur MLA and former minister Shri Gurmeet Singh Kunnar. Despite being unwell for a long time, Shri Kunnar was always striving for development work in his area. Koonar Saheb’s demise is an irreparable loss for the Congress Party and the politics of Rajasthan.
I pray to God to give peace to the departed soul and courage to the family,” Gehlot posted on X in Hindi.
