Rajasthan: Father-son handed 20-year jail for abducting, raping minor in Kota | Jaipur News

KOTA: A Kota Pocso court on Saturday sentenced a 24-year-old youth to 20 years in prison each for abducting and raping his 13-year-old cousin in 2019. His father was also handed a 20-year sentence for helping and protecting him.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 and 20,000 over each on both the two convicts.
The sentences were awarded by Pocso judge Deepak Dubey on Saturday, said public prosecutor Lalit Sharma.
While he was living in Anantpura area of Kota city and working as daily wage labourer, the convicted youth abducted his minor cousin from her house in a village under Budhadeet police station of Kota district on January 13, 2019 and took her to his father’s house in Chittor district.
The youth raped her several times and was in turn protected by his father who helped him to cover up the crime, the prosecutor said. Following her abduction, the minor’s father lodged a complaint at Budhadeet police station and cases under Section 363 of IPC was registered.
Police rescued the minor after a month and, on the basis of the minor’s statements, incorporated sections of rape under IPC and the Pocso Act against the accused youth and his father.
The two were arrested and later they were released on bail. The court on Saturday held the youth guilty of abduction and rape and his father for protecting him.
Statements of at least 13 witnesses were recorded during the trial and 35 documents submitted before court, the prosecutor said.
‘Medical examination of minor girl by male doctor against law’
The court took serious note of the medical examination of the minor girl done by a male doctor, identified as Mohammed Parvez Khan, who was posted at that time at government hospital in Budhadeet, and his female colleague Dr Kiran Gochar.
The court said the medical examination by a male doctor was against the law and directed the director, state medical and health department, to initiate departmental action against Dr Khan.
