Rajasthan: Fillip For Raje From Bjp Top Brass Marks Political Turn During ‘parivartan Yatra’ | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Former CM Vasundhara Raje has received endorsement from BJP central leaders during the party’s four-phase ‘Parivartan Sankalp Yatra’ in Rajasthan from September 2–5. Party president JP Nadda and Union ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh and Nitin Gadkari have highly praised Raje and the work done by the governments led by her in the state.
The spotlight received by Raje is indication of a bigger role for her in the upcoming assembly polls. Her exclusion from the party’s two crucial poll committees—election management and manifesto—last month had not gone down well with her supporters in Rajasthan.
The appreciation by Shah and Nadda has put an end to speculation that all is not well between them and Raje. Party leaders say it gives a clear message to party leaders across factions to acknowledge her as the leader.
Shah in his speech at Baneshwar Dham in Dungarpur on September 3 said that Raje’s tenure had introduced development in Rajasthan. The next day, Rajnath Singh asked the crowd in Jaisalmer to compare the Gehlot government with Raje’s to feel the difference.
“The party is concerned over its campaigns not building up under the present state unit. Most of its rallies and protests since the exit of former state president Satish Poonia were in the news for crowds way less than expected. The recent visit of party’s general secretary B L Santosh and election in-charge Pralhad Joshi was to express displeasure over the lack of coordination and poor turnout in party programs,” said a senior party leader.
In contrast, Raje’s programs continue to draw huge crowds. The rally in Shambupura in Kota in July drew over 1 lakh people and caught the eyeballs of BJP leaders in Jaipur and Delhi. “She emerged as the undisputed crowd puller in the state, leaving no choice for the party to give her the spotlight. The party will benefit if she is given the responsibility in the awaited campaign committee,” said another party leader.
Since C P Joshi replaced Satish Poonia as state BJP chief in March, the party is finding it difficult to build up its campaign. The central leaders are concerned at the poor counterattack against the Gehlot government.
The poll debacle in 2018, followed by elevation of Amber MLA Satish Poonia as party president against the candidates recommended by Raje, changed her equation with the state unit. Now, though, a senior party functionary confirmed, she will be holding big public rallies during the ‘Parivartan Yatra’.
