Rajasthan government issues gazette notification for water connections at high-rise buildings | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan government issued the gazette notification for water connections at high-rise buildings on Friday.
The notification – dated April 24, 2023 – states that it was issued following the cabinet order dated April 13, 2023, that allows the Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED) to supply pipeline drinking water even to multistoried buildings in the urban areas of the state.
“The notification is in effect from April 24, 2003.
In accordance with the date, we had already opened the windows for application at the nearest superintendent engineer’s office (Circle Office) of the individual high-rises,” said a PHED official.
As per this policy, a multistorey building has been defined as one with a height of more than 15 metres from the plinth.
If the ground floor is on a stilt or podium, the roof/podium level of the stilt floor will be considered for measuring the height.
The government has fixed a one-time fee of Rs 25 per sq. foot of the total carpet area for residential buildings and Rs 42 per sq. foot of the total carpet area in commercial buildings. In multistorey buildings with mixed usage, it will be Rs 25 per sq. ft of the total carpet area of the residential area and commercial rates for part of the building being used for commercial usage.
“PHED would provide water supply only till the ground floor reservoir. Arrangement for flat-to-flat distribution would be made by the builders or RWAs,” said an engineer from one of the circle offices in the city.
Once the applications are processed, PHED would determine a one time connection-fee. RWA or builders can, for the time being, pay 25% of the one-time fee. Rest 75%, can be paid in monthly installment for a period of 5 years. The installment amount would get added to the monthly bill for the next 60 months.
Till now, all high-rise buildings, including big residential or commercial complexes in the state had to depend on boring water or had to purchase water from tankers.
