KOTA/JAIPUR: A team of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday arrested the medical superintendent of JK Lon Hospital of Kota while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000. The accused had demanded the bribe in lieu of clearing pending bills of a firm amounting to nearly Rs 30 lakh.
ACB DG BL Soni said that the Kota unit of ACB got a complaint on June 20 against Dr Heera Lal Meena. “The complainant stated that Meena was asking for a bribe of nearly Rs 1.7 lakh in lieu of clearing the bills of the firm. The bills of Rs 30 lakh were for various works done at the hospital. After receiving the complaint, it was verified and, finally, a trap was laid on Friday.”
ACB officials said that Meena was arrested from his residence situated at RK Puram area in Kota city while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the firm’s proprietor. tnn

“He invited the proprietor to his residence in the evening with the bribe money,” ACB ASP Vijay Swarnkar said.”The bribe of Rs 50,000 was the first installment,” he said.
Soon after the arrest, a case under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act was lodged against the accused doctor and a search operation was conducted at his residence.
“A Kota ACB team will also conduct a search at his office on Saturday,” the officer said.
