Rajasthan No.2 in crimes against women, UP tops list: NCRB | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Rajasthan stood second in crimes against women in 2021. For the third consecutive year, the state had reported maximum rape cases last year as revealed by the latest data of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
Also, the overall chargesheet rate in crimes against woman cases is merely 54 per lakh, which in many states is more than 90. As per the figures, Uttar Pradesh tops the list with 56,083 crimes against women followed by Rajasthan at 40,738, Maharashtra (39,526), West Bengal (35,884) and Madhya Pradesh (30,673).

There has been a constant increase in crimes against women over the years. In 2019, the number of such cases was 41550, followed by 34,535 in 2020 and 40,738 cases in 2021. Also, it shows that the chargesheet rate in crimes against women is merely 54 per lakh while it is as high as 94.6 per lakh in Kerala.
DGP ML Lather said, “In Rajasthan, the registration of cases is fair unlike other states where a complainant moves from pillar to post to get a case registered. Police are serious in dealing with crimes against women as the number of days taken to file a chargesheet has come down to 54 days compared to 240 days earlier.”
