JAIPUR: Covid vaccination drive for the 18-44 age bracket saw a drop in numbers on Thursday as only 39,198 beneficiaries got their first dose. On most of the previous days, the number hovered around the 50,000 mark.
Though it was the sixth day since vaccination started in the state, many people are still clueless on slot booking. Many who had already registered are not been able to get a time slot and the vaccination site for themselves and their families.
In the last six days of inoculation, a total of 2,22,063 have been vaccinated so far. The number could have gone higher but due to problems in the Co-Win and Aarogya Setu apps, many who had registered did not get slots.
Many people who were roaming near the vaccination centres were told that without slot booking they can’t be entertained. “We have a slot of 100 vaccines per site in Jaipur. As soon as slots are opened, youngsters get their slots booked. This problem will improve when we will increase the vaccines and that is possible only after getting adequate supply of doses,” said Dr Raghuraj Singh, nodal officer, vaccination.
He added that vaccines have arrived for frontline and health workers and those above 45 years in the evening. “We have got 3 lakh vials for this category and hopefully this will enable us to administer the second dose to beneficiaries in this category,” he added. Out of the 39,198 shots, 8,196 got their first jab in Jaipur followed by Bharatpur (5,888), Kota (4,059), Udaipur(3,701), Jodhpur (3,096), Ajmer (2,816), Bikaner (2,788), Bhilwara (2,277), Pali (2,025), Dholpur (1,583), Sikar(1,545) and Alwar (1,215).
