Rajasthan Police: Smuggler Held With Opium Worth ₹65l | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: The crime branch of Rajasthan police onTuesday seized 656 kg of illegal opium from Bhilwara and arrested a notorious smuggler.
ADGP (Crime) Dinesh MN said that the approximate value of the seized narcotics substance is believed to be nearly Rs 65 lakh.
Police mentioned that a crime branch team had intercepted a suspicious pick-up vehicle in Mandalgarh in Bhilwara, and stopped it for a search when they found a large quantity of opium being smuggled. They arrested the accused, identified as Kanhaiya Lal, who was moving in a separate vehicle with the aim of providing an escort to the pick-up vehicle.
The driver of the pick-up was identified as Raju Vishnoi, who managed to flee the scene. The Rajasthan police have increased vigilance across the state to combat drug cartels that routinely smuggle drugs into the state.
Police have mentioned that investigation is currently underway to determine why the drug cartel was transporting such a significant quantity of drugs into the state. They suspect that a major narcotic mafia may have been involved in the case. In their efforts to uncover more information, police have launched a major manhunt to track down Raju Vishnoi, who fled from the scene.
“We have in the past busted many narcotics gangs involved in smuggling of drugs. This is part of our ongoing operation against the smugglers and their nexus,” the official added.
